Kandil Steel

Kandil has been a cornerstone of the Egyptian industrial landscape since 1865. Initially starting as a manufacturer of manual agricultural machinery, the company gradually transitioned to semi-automatic machinery and, by the early 1900s, began producing boilers. However, it was in the 1950s that Kandil solidified its position in the steel industry. After Mr. Mohy Kandil completed his Economics degree in France, he steered the company toward flat steel, setting the foundation for Kandil’s pivotal role in Egypt's industrial development. Starting with a small workshop dedicated to processing steel sheets, Kandil's focus on high-quality materials quickly earned the company a reputation as a leader in the Egyptian market. In the early 1980s, the Kandil family expanded its operations by opening KAMA, Egypt’s first modern flat steel service center, located in the 10th of Ramadan city. By combining superior quality with investment in state-of-the-art Western production lines, KAMA rapidly became the go-to supplier of flat steel for Egypt's manufacturing and construction sectors. In the year 2000, Kandil Steel pioneered Egypt’s first privately owned cold rolling mill, followed by its first galvanizing line in 2003. This expansion continued year after year, culminating in the acquisition of its major competitor, Galvametal, in 2007. Today, Kandil is recognized as a trusted supplier of Cold Rolled, Galvanized, and Coated flat steel, not only in Egypt but across Europe and the Middle East. With a current production capacity of 600,000 tons per year, nearly 40% of which is dedicated to export, Kandil remains a dominant force in the steel industry.
